April Lockhart

April Lockhart, born in 1995 on July 4th July. She began piano and guitar lessons from seven years old. The passion for creating songs was sparked. The first song she wrote was called Different, which she wrote when she was 12 years old. The year she turned 14 was when she was devoted for a long period of time to writing song ideas and practicing her musical skills. In the following months, she started taking writing excursions with her father in LA as well as NY. April also began incorporating additional relevant subjects into the Take my Hand song for some acquaintances, including peer pressure problems and suicides among teenagers. Lockhart is also gaining a growing popularity as a lifestyle influencer and is employed by the renowned clean beauty company Ilia. The truth is that she was born without a left hand. This is what makes her different. However, this isn't the only thing about her. Lockhart doesn't deny her disability on Instagram, but she isn't making it the focal point of her story. What is the message? That we all contain multitudes of identities and that we're much more than our physical selves. Lockhart has stated on video that she didn't want to be defined by her physical disability. She does not want to be a disability advocate who only talks about disability. There are a lot of aspects to Lockhart. My everyday life isn't dependent on it. I go about my regular daily life, and come up with my own solutions to problems. However, it's a component of me, so I believe that it's crucial to speak about. Self-acceptance is a lifelong marathon but Lockhart truly inspires me in this regard. Still, she admits that she went through a series of phases with her physique, feeling uneasy in some instances to wear clothes that showed her arms. She now wears whatever she likes. She also posts her pictures to social networks. To her, self-love was an extended process. But I think that's common to everyone regardless of what they are struggling with. I think it is important to be surrounded by those who are able to know you.
